Swiss Tax Changes 2025

In January 2025, VAT rules are changing for customers shopping from Switzerland.

If you have previously placed an order with Fruugo or any other online marketplace, you may be familiar with the existing tax process for items coming from outside of Switzerland; the item you order will not be subject to any VAT at the point of purchase and instead you are required to pay any import VAT to the Federal Tax Office to receive your item.

This is changing from January 2025 with the process becoming much simpler, more transparent and allowing your purchase to arrive quicker.

From January 2025 onwards, the price you see on Fruugo will be the final price you pay.

The price shown on Fruugo will include any applicable taxes, removing the requirement for you to pay import VAT to receive your item. Fruugo will remit the VAT charged on your order to the Federal Tax Office.

Fruugo will go live with these new rules for orders placed on 1st January 2025.

Should you receive any additional tax charges when your item arrives, please visit Fruugo Help and we will investigate.

Fruugo is registered with the Federal Tax Office with registration number CHE-451.700.038 TVA.
